Bhavika

Consultant Psychologist

Hi, I am Bhavika, and I am a Trauma-Informed and Queer Affirmative Counseling Psychologist. I have experience in working with a wide spectrum of concerns that could be affecting an individual’s well being such as trauma, anxiety, substance use, issues of gender and sexuality, familial concerns, relationship or marital issues, among others. I use an eclectic approach primarily comprising of techniques from the Internal Family Systems Model, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Transactional Analysis to assist the client in navigating through their concerns. Throughout my years of training I have constantly aimed to increase awareness and debunk myths surrounding mental health. I have done this by assisting in organizing mental health awareness drives in Rural Uttar Pradesh in 2018. I have worked with Co-WeCare, an initiative led by the students of TISS-BALM in 2021, which provided free and brief tele-counselling services for individuals who were mentally and emotionally affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. I have interned under clinical psychologists who helped me understand and learn more about various psychometric assessments and psychological disorders. My work there also comprised of visiting drug de-addiction centres, and schools for children whose parents were in conflict with the law and organizing group activities with the children and adolescents. I have interned at the Cancer Institute, Adyar where I facilitated multiple group processes and provided psycho-education to patients and caregivers about cancer care. I have also done researches in multiple areas like Substance Use, and Workplace Wellness in TISS-BALM.
